Good Website Design
I was asked to review a website recently and one of the things that I am very aware of when doing this is what and where my eye is automatically drawn to. In this case the home page was rather 'busy' as if trying to cram all the messages products and services into the first page, perhaps for fear that the viewer might not click anywhere else. In fact for me this just created confusion and overwhelm. I was unsure who the site was targeting and exactly what it wanted me to do as a result of landing on this page. One might assume from this site that they wanted me to book onto 5 or 6 different workshops or courses and buy several products at the same time! When designing your site, I would advise you to think very carefully about what you want the visitor (prospective client) to do as a result of visiting. Remember you don't have very long to capture both their imagination and their contact details. Do you have an irrestible offer, a unique product or service, a fantastic opportunity or a free info product that will enable you to collect the visitor's email address? If you do, is it easy to find and sign-up to? If you don't then how will you keep people on your site and find a way to keep in touch with them on an ongoing basis? Is your site easy to read and navigate? If you have multiple products and services, are they grouped in a logical way so that people will go straight to that page for the information or service they are seeking? How well does your site work for you? |
